Barefoot Spa - Laing Circ Pump: Junk in the Pump

I have a lot of pine trees next to my BareFoot Spa hot tub and my Circulation Pump (Laing I believe) get cloged up about every other month. I need to rip it out, remove all the pine needles, hair, etc from the rotor, and then reinstall.

Is there such a thing as an in-line filter that I could install before the intake that would be easier to clean out?

Thanks,
Kevin

Oh yeah!

It's called a spa cover! <img src=" title="Very Happy" /> Yes they do make this kind of thing... I'll see if I can find something and post back shortly.

Pageup,

Any luck in finding this part?

Thanks,
Kevin

As of this moment, the industry is making a liar out of me. A few years ago, Waterway® made a real nice in line filter that had like 1" or 3/4" fittings on each end that would work directly with a circ pump like this. It was about the size of an oil can.

I guess the market didn't support it and it's not in their catalog anymore. Tell you what though, we're direct Waterway distributors on the east coast, and I'll have the boss (Babe) check on this thing tomorrow and post again... to see if there's any left over, or if there's a suitable option for you.

Thanks for reminding me about this.

PS: Waterway® deals with so much stuff, including things like 2" and 5" speaker systems for hot tubs... lol, now I'm waiting for the next volcano jet sub-woofer. Your requirement for this kind of accessory isn't unique. It's the plague of anyone with trees around the tub!

Thanks for checking!

Still no luck yet Kev, Boss is out this afternoon and won't be back until later tomorrow. I'll have her do a check on the inline filter since she's the one that does the talking to our distros. Thanks for your patience, and I tell you, I think once we get a hard line on these things we're going to add them to our product offering because I've had a lot of customers in the past that have been plagued with this same exact problem you have. You wouldn't believe some customers that I've dealt with that get their spa circ pumps clogged with dog hair!?!?!?! <img src=" title="Rolling Eyes" /> (repeatedly?) Like man what are you guys doing with the dog in the tub ??? (real dogs, -rover style- not little poochie). Then there's the ones that like to cut the grass with the cover open... and the kiddie hair things, etc... it's endless... Usually what I end up doing (after the 3rd trip in 2 months or less) is doing a show and tell with the homeowner so they can clean out their own circ pump. Oh well, better stop now before this thing starts to get R rated... <img src=" title="Confused" />

Hydroair ITT in-line strainer filters are perfect for circ pump protection, however you will need to regularly clean them in areas prone to pine, tea tree and other small leaves/debris http://www.spaparts.com.au/prod1305.htm
