| D1 Quadra blower jet questions |
I recently purchased a used D1 Quadra (original owners receipt dated 1996) assume that it is a 1996 model. It has one 1.5hp pump which seems to be moving water just fine. However there is little to no air activity associated with water flow. There are two 1/2" lines that enter the pump compartment but only have a check valves on top of them. I removed the check valves and inserted an air line from my compressor with a low pressure and turned the pump on high. It seemed to make a world of difference adding air to the jets. My question is, does anyone know of what type of blower pump would work best to activate the jets or is there a way I can use the current pump to draw air through the lines with a venturi effect. I suspect that was maybe original operation or possibly the blower was an add-on that was never purchased. Any information would be appreciated. Thanks
Any opinions on weather or not it is worth doing would also be entertained. Thanks |

Re: D1 Quadra blower jet questions
Hello,
Yeah not a part of the original design.....you can add an air line with a check valve on the end for back water. If you want to add a blower, need to run new lines, pain in the butt!
Seems like you have things together pretty good.....nice idea on the Venturi effect!
Most manufactures do this now with check valves on the end instead of air valves on the top of the tub.
You can do either.....
Let me know if you need any parts.

Re: D1 Quadra blower jet questions
OK I did some more looking into my hot tub. What I can tell is the lines in the blower compartment that have the check valves on them feed into the housing for the nozzles where jets discharge into the tub. I am not getting air mixed into the jet without outside force, I made sure the lines were could move air (pressurizes only at this point). I’m guessing there is maybe a build up of hard water deposits?? in the housing restricting the jets from sucking air in the nozzles by a venture effect. Does any one have any suggestions on how to increase air flow or possible clean housings? At the moment the tub is full, I plan on draining it soon and would like to do this all in a weekend. Thanks |
