I'm trying to figure out how the air circulation works, or why it doesn't seem to be working on my tub. When the tub was a couple of years old, it started kicking the GFCI breaker and I tracked the problem down to the ozonator. At the time, it seemed to me like the check valve had failed and water had run into the unit and shorted it out. I disconnected it and plugged up the hose and removed the ozonator an everything worked fine.
Now, 3 years later, I got a replacement ozonator. I hooked it back up with a new check valve but it doesn't seem to be working. I think the ozonator is working fine. It's a Del which looks almost exactly like the one that I removed. The problem is that the circulation system is not pulling air back through the input hose. As a matter of fact, a little water is getting pushed back through the check valve towards the ozonator. Now, I think that the problem I had originally was this instead of a bad check valve.
I am getting some air bubbles coming out of some jets on the tub, but not on the one where the ozone injector is connected. Just looking at the plumbing, it looks like there is just a pipe connecting the ones that do bubble to the one that doesn't. I'm pretty sure that when the tub was new that there was a constant stream of fine bubbles coming out of that port. I did try turning off all of the jets where the air was coming out and suddenly air started coming out of the volcano jet where it wasn't before, but still no suction on the ozone input. This leads me to believe that there isn't enough air pressure, but I don't really know.
Again, I don't know how this all works, but my guess is that this is either: 1. Not enough pressure from the pump 2. Clogged line 3. Misinformed User 4. Something else
Is what I am describing a common problem, or am I doing something wrong/stupid? Is there a method for troubleshooting this problem?
Thanks.
