Power light (led)flashes
I bought it used with a broken heater. Its been installed for 30days and works fine with no heat (temp knob set to off)
I followed the instructions in the manual ( checked the breaker, clean filters) try to reset hi-limit sensor. Power off for 10 min, turn power on light still flashes as soon as the power comes on. heater is unpluged from controler. How do I test the hi-limit sensor??

Grab an ohm meter, set to 20k, and ohm out the thermistor. Post results along with current water temp.

Be sure that small, 24 hour circ pump is working also. If the circ pump fails, it can lead the exact same condition. The circ pump will get very hot when it fails, and due to it's proximity to the heater, the heater high limit will trip, even though the heater is not actually overheating.

It shouldn't trip at 7.27, although that reading corresponds with a temp around 90F, so it's a bit out of range, although not enough to trip... I'd replace it anyway, and go from there. Occasionally, it will fix the problem. Be sure there isn't corrosion in the hhl receptacle, as that will alos cause it trip.

Be sure to leave it off for at least 10-15 seconds before re-setting it.

What does the other thermistor OHM out at? Is the circ pump flowing as it should?

I only measured the one, i believe the pump is working correctly
I can see the thermal flow in the water.
I will go back and test the oter cell

Just took the OHM reading from the other thermistor - it is 9.51. On the left hand side of the controller, the thermistors plug in. The top is the control, the middle is the high limit, and the bottom one has a green jumper wire. As a note, below the green jumper wire is a bonding terminal with a green wire going to the electric box and bare wires going to all the components (pumps, heater, circulation pump). I noticed the lead going to the heater is not connected. Does this mean anything or is it a safty item? Also, do I need to drain the tub to install these thermistors?

It just means that when the heater was replaced, they didn't hook up the external ground. Don't worry about it- you've got an additional ground in the power cord, as well as GFCI protection. Replace the heater high limit thermistor first- and cross your fingers. If that doesn't do it, the high limit PCB would be the next "most likely suspect." Testing the HHL PCB is impossible without a HHL PCB test tool, available from Watkins, of course " title="Very Happy" />

You can OHM out the heater too, should be between 9-12 OHMs " title="Smile" />

I get 10.7 oms between the two round terminals. if i go across the flat terminal to either round terminal i get 0.
i did plug it back in and tried to run it and it tripped the ground fault

Bummer, sounds like it's got a ground fault. zero ohm to either heater pole and ground- YIKES!

OHM's accross the element are good, but it's gone to ground in a bad way. You'll need to replace it.
