| Control Box Question |
Hi, I'm brand new here and don't know if this is the right place for this question but here goes. We drained our tub over a year ago. We didn't blow out the lines. When we went to refill the tub today we found that one of the valve collars/connectors on the control box broke. Is this something that we can fix on our own? Any help is appreciated! Can you direct us to some information? Thanks, Maureen |

Re: Control Box Question
Perhaps if you could post a picture of the piece which is broken.
I have had a union nut break and it is fairly easy and inexpensive to pick up a replacement. For myself it was on the flared heater tube, so I purchased a split union nut to replace it. Took about 3 or four days for delivery.
For this nut you simply place on the pipe and screw the two screws to make one solid connector, then just tighten as normal. Shouldn't take anymore than a few minutes. They ship 2 split unions (4 halves) plus screws in a box, so you'll end up with an extra for the repair drawer.
A link here....they have a US and Canadian site that you can choose to make shipping more local.

If you live in Toronto you can have my extra one free..lol, otherwise should be under $20 delivered. |

Re: Control Box Question
Thank you so much. It is this piece. My husband used lock tite super glue for plastic and then wrapped the piece with plumbing epoxy putty. The putty is rock hard and so far there are no leaks. I thank you for your offer and for your help. I will hold on to the link you provided just in case.

Re: Control Box Question
You may wish to order and replace it anyway, would be unfortunate to have the semi-repaired one go faulty and lead to bigger problems with leaks especially if you have cold winters. I don't know how super glue and epoxy will hold out over time, just for peace of mind seeing it is very inexpensive and a do it yourself fix.
Glad you have your tub up and running....
