| New IQ2000 and Topside Control PLEASE HELP!!!! |
Had some issues with my 1997 Watkins Siberian Spa. Finally after having a person look at it that was somewhat of a hot tub man, I purchased the new IQ2000. Installed the new one, plugged everything in, set the jumpers on it, and hti the breakers. Cirulation pump worked, nothing else. LED light inside IQ2000 says "CONTROL UNPLUGGED" so I'm assuming it's the ribbon that connects the topside control to the IQ2000. Turner everything off, check everything and reconnected the topside control, still same thing. So I talked to local hot tub guy, he says, more than likely the topside control is bad to. So ordered this, plug it up, same thing. Only thing is, the new topside, which is not dig. just has temp knob, jet button, light button, it did not come with what I call the ribbon to connect the IQ2000 and control. It's like a pc ribbon, flat with around 10 wires molded together. Do I need to order this also? What can you help me with and where is the best place to get this quickly? THANKS YOU ALL FOR ANYTHING!!

Re: New IQ2000 and Topside Control PLEASE HELP!!!!
Did the new IQ 2000 and control head connect properly with the ribbon cable that you had? Just want to make sure you have the right box.
The '97 needs a #71382 IQ2000 The 98-00 needs a #71485 IQ2000 |

Re: New IQ2000 and Topside Control PLEASE HELP!!!!
Okay, I went and checked the Part # for the NEW IQ2000 it says: Watkins PN 71379 The old IQ2000 Part # says: Watkins PN: 36697
I did a little checking on this on the website I ordered from, it says PN 71379 is old ref number. Maybe new one I guess is 71382? But the old IQ2000 like I said says 36697.
Also the top control I got new is a PN: 34922.
So not sure what this means, they ask me for the model and serial number of the actual hot tub. Never was ask what the old IQ2000 PN was. I'm not rewal sure now after about $650.00 that any of that was bad. Proably was the way it was acting, but don't know. I just wanna get it right. HA!
I did checked the ribbon. It will only plug into one end, each end is a little different. No pins are bent or missing. The ribbon has a couple places that are kinda bent looking, small tear in between wires, no bare wires showing, worked just like that for a long time. But never know, I assumed that the new topside came with the ribbon also. I was wrong. HA! Let me know what you think! Thanks!

Re: New IQ2000 and Topside Control PLEASE HELP!!!!
The part numbers would have been on the box that it came in..the numbers you are seeing are most likely different ones off of the actual circuit boards, which are not available on their own.
If the ribbon cable doesn't match up, then one of the parts is wrong. My guess is that they gave you the IQ2000 for a 98-2000 tub. The only real difference in the boxes is the way that the control cable hooks up.
What is the serial number of the tub? I'll be out ice-fishing until tonight...will be a while until I get back...good luck! |

Re: New IQ2000 and Topside Control PLEASE HELP!!!!
Here is the hot tub numbers: Watkins Siberian model: L serial: L371015
The box that the iq2000 came in has part number: 71382 inside it says 71379
also the box it came say IQ2000 Cntrl box, Grandee. Maybe the siberian and Grandee use same. But not sure. It just act like nothing is plugged into iq2000. There is no way really to plug it in wrong either. The ribbon snaps in perfect.
Thanks! |

Re: New IQ2000 and Topside Control PLEASE HELP!!!!
So you think get the new ribbon and see what happens? I was thinking, what else could it be other than the topside control or ribbon, or the iq2000 is bad. Everything else, pump, light, jet pump and heater work fine. We tested all that. I'll let you know.

Re: New IQ2000 and Topside Control PLEASE HELP!!!!
Okay, you won't believe this, but the new IQ2000 was wrong from the factory, so they sent me a new one next day air. So that fixed that, but one little thing, my GFCI breaker in my main box keeps tripping after about 10 seconds of turning everything on. Didn't have much time to work on that part, so I'll keep you all posted. Any suggestions is welcome. Thanks!

Re: New IQ2000 and Topside Control PLEASE HELP!!!!
Hi, okay, disconnect the 3 heater wires from control box. Everything works fine. Plug them back up, turn breakers on, gfci trips. So I know it's the Watkins No-Fault 6000, I took it out, Ohm the connections. Evreything seemed fine, no shorts that I could read, but there doesn't seem to be much I can take apart. I also OHM the hi-limit wire and the other wire, they read fine also. May have to get another heater, which I know they make a better heater now, but, $240.00. I'm running out of $$$! HA! Any suggestions? Thanks! |

No, if it's grounded then you need a new heater. |

Re: New IQ2000 and Topside Control PLEASE HELP!!!!
Okay guys, here is the update. First of all, Dan the Spa Man, is "THE MAN"!!! So I replaced the heater and that fixed that problem. Then I had a problem with the cir. pump, it wasn't pumping but I could hear it running. Of course the heater was trying to over-heat. So I messed with it and messed with it, thought it was airlocked. Couldn't get nothing. So took pump out and took it apart and turned pwr on to. It spun like it should and in the correct direction. So put it all back together and back in tub. Refilled again, and it's working. Don't know what it was, but it's working and the water is getting hotter as we speak. So at the end, I replaced the IQ2000 Circuit board, the topside control and the No-Fault Heater. $875.00 later, I'm in business. Let's hope I never have to do this again. Thanks for your help. Hope I can help you guys someday. |
