| Watkins Siberian won't stay on and no volt to heat |
Hello, I'm new here so hopefulyy I'm at the right section. Here's what I got. 1997 Watkins Tiger River Spa. Siberian Model L. 220V 50A. Just got this spa last year, worked on it, wood pipes and a new cir. pump. Everything seemed to be great for about 4-5 months. Then I had a problem, it stopped heating. So started checking everything. Wasn't getting pwr to the heater through the IQ2020 control board. Played with it for hours, then don't know if something I done or what, but the green LED light inside the control box started fading until it went out. As it would go out, I would hear a chattering noise coming from one of the relays or something that is built in the board. So everything else works jets, light, cir pump atleast until the led light goes out and the chatter starts. It only chatters for a few seconds. Then I have to turn the breakers off in the sub panel for a minute then turn it on and it will work just for like a minute. Except the heater of course even if I turn temp up/dwn on the topside control. The main pwr coming to the control board never goes out though. Voltages stay good. So to make this shorter, I (for some reason I'll never know) started blowing on the relay or contact block that was chattering and the green led light would start coming back on. But still no heater. So I may have 2 problems here. I took the control board to our local soa shop. They checked it for free. They could not find anything wrong. So they said it was something that was hooked to the control board (pump/light etc.) I took it home hooked all back up with new wire from sub panel, and hooked nothing up to it. But then it won't operate because the red led that says componant unplugged or something. So I just have to hook up the heater and the 2 theromstat wires on the side and it does the same thing. Green light fades then chatter and then nothing. Spa place seems to think it's control board not the heater since there is no voltage going to heater. But I can't really afford to guess. The cheapest place I can find a 1997 IQ2020 board is on the internet for 475.00 but you can't return it if that don't fix problems. So if anybody can give me some help, I would be greatful. Trying not to sink $1000 in this thing. For one I don't have it. HA! If you need photos or anything else please let me know. I would even pay someone $20 bucks if they could help me out. HA! DESPERATE!!!!! Thanks alot guys!
