| control pack for hawkeye spa ?? |
Bought this spa 5 years ago. beginning in Jan 2008 it started breaking;
First it started shorting out. The alarm would start screaming at about 3 am every few weeks - we would just reset the circuit breaker and everything was fine, until the next time. Finally it would not reset.
First we had a electrician come out - assuming it was the breaker not the tub. Breaker was fine. 150.00 for 20 minutes! so we called the spa people who came out said the heater cord was bad -replaced it to the tune of 750.00 ( parts & labor)
It took over 6 weeks to get the part from Hawkeye. Now we are into March and the weather was finally warming up. About 2 months afterwards, the circuit breaker tripped again. The service came out - the spa was working fine. This went on for a couple of months.
Finally the spa quit heating - the pumps would go on - no heat. The spa people came out again, accepted the fact that the part was defective and went to send it back to Hawkeye, who refused to believe them ( a company that has been in business over 25 years) and we had to send the bad part back to Hawkeye to test, wait another 6-8 weeks -...this happened TWICE.
The second heater worked, but the circuit would still trip every so often. It was summer, who cared.
In Nov 08 the spa quit working - The spa people came out and told us we now needed a new control panel and a new 2nd pump, as it was making noise- they did not know if they could even get the control panel from Hawkeye, but it would be well over 1500.00 just for the panel.
I decided to ignore it for awhile.
I have just discovered that I can replace it myself with one from Spaparts....!! " title="Mr. Green" />
My question could I replace it with a pneumatic controller instead of a digital one? So I can avoid all problems assoicated with the digital controller
Below are the specs.
Any help or suggestions are welcomed
thanks

Re: control pack for hawkeye spa ??
Yes, you can.
But a picture of your current setup would help immensely. Since you have a heater cord, I assume your heater is not mounted to your control pack which means you're either going to have basically the same heater cord OR you'll have to do some plumbing. |
