| need some help wiring in Balboa ozone |
I just recivied the new balboa ozonator to add to my VS510. I wsa reading threw the instructions and it states to only have it run when the filtration pump is running. It then states to use the blue quick connectors to wire the pump to the filtration pumps leads. The ozone is wired in 240 volts. The tub has a circulation pump on it. Im pretty sure the way it is wired that it runs with the circ pump. Is there any way to control how often the circ pump runs or do I have to wire it into one of the other 2 pumps to keep it from running 24/7?
Thanks |

Re: need some help wiring in Balboa ozone
I think the VS 510 has a receptacle for ozone. :" title="Question" />
If so, make sure the white wire adjacent to the receptacle is moved to pick up line 2.
(see conversion diagram on inside cover of the VS controller)
24 hr circ pump will run for 24 hrs, and ozone will be interrupted when booster pumps are engaged.
( if I'm not mistaken) " title="Rolling Eyes" />
Check this before splicing up your controller. " title="Shocked" />
Any one else to contribute :" title="Question" /> |

Re: need some help wiring in Balboa ozone
The W-wire is set for 240v, it comes on and runs just fine, it just runs all the time. The ozone works, everything is working great, I just want the ozonator to last as long as possible. But to do that it is only supposed to run a few hours a day, and the only way the controller lets me run it, is 24 hrs a day.... |

Re: need some help wiring in Balboa ozone
One of the differences between a 24 Hr circ system, and a two speed system, is "Turn Over Rate".
24 Hr systems have a slower turn over rate than a two speed pump, however continuous. The amount of Ozone being introduced will also be less,.......but continuous.
A 24 Hr circ system is really designed around an ozone introduction.
Having a constant oxidizer in the spa is what it is all about.
I would say not to be overly concerned about the hourly usage of the unit.

What type of ozonator is it? If it's UV you'll probably get more life out of it running 24/7 than turning it on and off daily.
