| Hot Spot SLX FLO problem |
I recently restarted my Hotspot SLX spa after 3-4 months of having it shut off and drained.
After refilling the water, I plugged it in, checked for leaks and turned it up to operating temperature.
All functions worked fine(pump hi\lo, light, etc). Came back 24 hours later to work on chemistry, and dicoverede it had not reached operating temperature, and that there was a "FLO" message on the display. The pump was no longer responding to control inputs, and the typical automatic cycling of the pump was not working.
It now makes a noise like it is trying to pump about 1-2 seconds every couple of minutes. I know the heater is working because the maintenance compartment is warmer than ambient temperature, and the water is warm(not hot though).
This seems like a pretty knowledgeable board, and I hope someone may be able to help.

Re: Hot Spot SLX FLO problem
Was there a lot of water mold or anything that came out of the jets when you first turned it on? Sometimes when tubs sit for a while this happens and it clogs the filter and/or pump.
If you reset the power, does the tub work again or does the "Flo" reading come up right away?
If there are no problems with clogs or the pump itself then you most likely need a new pressure switch. |

Re: Hot Spot SLX FLO problem
Nothing nasty came out of the jets that I noticed. I did remove the filter and check it out/tried it momentarily without it in place, to no avail.
The only way I reset power was by unplugging and replugging it in. When I did so, the flo reading did not come right back up, but the jets still did not work. Not sure if the FLO display came back. I do not think it did, because the display showed the temp setting right away and not FLO.
How do I check for a pump clog? |
