| Screwed Up when replacing the flow switch |
I have a 1997 CalSpa Premier Atlantic HotTub, with Balboa Series 3 Controls. I bought this New in 1997. For the most part it has been great. I have had to replace a relay a couple of times and a fuse here and there. Nothing major.
Recently however, the FLO error was displayed constantly, so I called both CalSpa and Balboa, since CalSpa does not have a dealer anywhere near my vicinity and I do have an account with Balboa. Both techs told me to replace the Flow switch. Not a problem, I thought. However, when threading the new switch in, I used teflon tape to ensure a leak proof joint. Not so. It had a slight leak, so I removed it again and this time put some silicon sealer on it as the original had. However in my zest to ensure it was tight I over tightened and cracked the female connection it screws into. Now what do I do to either repair or replace this fitting. Is there such thing as a replacement fitting or do I have to replace the entire length of hose? Hopefully the picture attached can give someone a visual of what I have.

Re: Screwed Up when replacing the flow switch
Two options:
1. Take the pipe to a good spa/pool supplies shop - looks like a T with a threaded reducer glued in, but hard to tell from the pics...
2. Bodge it - by this I mean take a dremmel or small hacksaw to the outer ring around the thread and cut it off. Then use a jubilee clip (like u use on a normal hose, or car radiator) and some PVC glue to clamp the crack shut and hold the join. Then re-fit the pressure switch (with less force than before). Cant hurt to try... |
