| 1999 cal spa with c2000, motor hums won't run, then breakers |
Hello all- Here is my tale of woe. Back in November the GFI breaker starting tripping. I would flip the breaker back on and the pump would run normally. This continued for about a week until the pump would not run at all after resetting the breaker. I assumed that the pump was locked up or the motor had gone bad. This was based on the observation of signs of leaking around the pump. I replaced the pump and motor combination with another 220 volt 4.5 hp 2 speed motor. The original motor was only 4 horse. After installation of the new pump I received several thermal alarms on the control panel. I assumed this was due to the very cold weather we were having and as a result the line from the heater was frozen. I placed a blow heater near by and after a couple of hours the pump started and ran fine. Now this week the GFI breaker tripped. I reset it but the motor and pump would not run. The motor hums for 35-40 seconds and then stops. I can hear both relays clicking in the C2000 circuit board. Below are pictures to help with the problem.
Thanks Jim

If the shaft of the motor turns freely I'd suggest replacing the start/run capacitor(s) on the motor. |
