| 2002 Dimension Diplomat GFI Troubles |
Hello All;
I am new to this board. I recently moved and we moved the hot tub as well. It was never damaged during the move. However when my electrican hooked up the GFI and hooked it up to the spa, it immediatedly tripped. He disconnected the the wiring from the spa and determined that the GFI breaker was not faulty.
The circuit board is a Gecko (Spabuilder) I removed absolutely every component from the circuit board. And come to find out with everything removed and once the transformer is plugged into the circuit board it instantly trips the GFI.
This particular transformer has three wires (Red/Grn/Yel) on side and two (Gray/BlacK) on the other. I then found out it only trips the breaker with the Gray and Black wires on the transformer is plugged in the circuit board.
My question is what are the chances the transformer is bad? And if it is not the transformer am I looking at a problem with the circuit board? I have no Dimension One service in the area I live. Any suggestions, I would greatly appreciate it. |

Re: 2002 Dimension Diplomat GFI Troubles
if the transformer was good at you previous location it should be good at your new location. I'd suspect the main wiring either at your quick disconnect or where it connects within the spa is improperly connected or something has come loose. The GFCI kicks off because the appliance is not properly grounded. The breaker will pop off because the appliance is trying to draw too much current due to a short in the heater or one of the motors. Sound like you have eliminated the motors and the heater so whats left is the wiring harness. I don't think the board or the tansformer are the problem. |

Re: 2002 Dimension Diplomat GFI Troubles
If the spa takes a neutral wire make sure the electrician hooked the neutral from the spa straight into the breaker and not to the neutral bar first. |
