GFCI Trips Ocassionally
I have a Rocky Mountain Spa / Alpine Model with Balboa spa pack, Outside Installation new in May 2005, 220V/50A GFI. The GFI is mounted inside the garage so I could stay away from any moisture issues. For the last six month's or so the GFI trips a couple times a week, I live in Iowa so this is a problem in the winter. This weekend it was tripped along with the 30 Amp time delay fuse that powers the motor. I know everyone will say it's the motor. My question is why does it do it only occasionally? If the motor had a hot to neutral / ground fault wouldn't this happen every time the motor starts? Is there a way to check this before replacing it? and any suggestions on where to look for a new one? Any ideas would be appreciated. Thanks!
