I have a 1994 Hot Springs Highlife (Model K) hottub and recently, I drained and refilled the water. Very soon afterwards, the Power-On light was blinking but the circulation pump was still running. I looked in the equipment housing and noticed the heater high limit switch was tripped. I reset it and closed the equipment door back and 20 minutes later, it tripped again. I looked in the troubleshooting section of the manual and made sure the filters were not clogged, compartment door was closed, and the temperature was set at 5. I repeated the steps above and it tripped again.

Any suggestions?

Feel the heater to see if it's actually hot.

If so, then repair or replace your circ pump.

If it's cool, then replace hi limit switch.

I felt the heater and strangely, it didn't feel real hot, but after resetting the Heater High Limit Switch again, I felt hot water flowing from the Heater Return. I did notice that normally, it bubbles out of the return - I didn't feel a real current coming from the return as usual. Although the circ pump is running, it must not be functioning properly therefore causing the high limit switch to trip. I'm assuming I'll have to drain the hottub again to repair or replace the circ pump. Is that correct?

If one is quick and resourceful... well let's just say that I do them all the time with water. (I plug the hoses with big bolts or plastic grocery bags or something).
