| Leisure Bay GFI trips, I need some help please |
Hi there, I have a Leisure Bay 4 person hot tub,8-9 years old i think. It has a "Smart" series digital control panel. It's running on 115v since i bought it 2 years ago. It's trips the the GFI if i turn on the jet or the air pump.Ozonator, heater and the circulating pump is running with no problem if i unplug the jet and air motor from the power box.But if i disconnect the heater and re plug the jet and air motor they work fine. Do i have problem with my heater or with my air and jet motor? Or any better ideas? Thanks, |

Re: Leisure Bay GFI trips, I need some help please
Has it done this for as long as it's been hooked up to 115 or did this just start happening?
115 systems have to decide between jets and heating, since combined they'd run over 20 amps and overload your circuit. It's possible that rather than tripping the GFCI, it's attempting to run them both at once. The only way to tell this for sure would be to have the neutral disconnected from the GFCI to see if it still trips. Whether it does or does not, be sure the GFCI is reconnected afterward. |

Re: Leisure Bay GFI trips, I need some help please
Hello, thanks for the answer. It was fine until now, it's started tripping the GFI two days ago.I know with the 115v it's either the heater or the pumps running, that what messing me up.Both run fine if i unplug the other one, and they should not run together anyway.Maybe circuit board problem?Maybe the heater stays on a bit longer, but the heater light(little red dot) shuts off right when i press any jet or air buttons. So i'm confused.I had a pool guy here, he wants to replace the power box(circuit board) and heater assembly together, what i think is bs. |

Re: Leisure Bay GFI trips, I need some help please
ok,update info.I pulled out the heater element to check on corrision or some visual problem, everything looks ok.replaced the ground terminal and ground wire to new one, checked voltage,resistance...everything is ok.I ran the heater for hours, (jet and air disconnected) it ran fine.I ran the jet and air for some time with the heater disconnected, it's fine.Because of the 115v they never should run together anyway, but after all this work done still doing the same thing, press any jet ot air button and GFCI trips.I start to belive the circuit board is messed up but it's not cheap so i want to be sure.Any way to test it? |

When you say air and/or jet motor, are you talking about one piece of equipment or have you got a pump and blower? |

Re: Leisure Bay GFI trips, I need some help please
Hi, i have a air blower and a jet pump(motor) witch now trips the circuit(any of them), the ozonator and the circulating pump runs fine with the heater connected. |
