| New Ozonator - Tripping on Startup |
First I would like to say I'm glad I found this forum. Great wealth of knowledge.
I'm having a problem with a new Ozonator that is tripping my GFI. The tub is an Aruba Spa's unit and is about 7 years old. I have recently installled an ozonator to replace a unit that went bad last year. We figured we could go without it, but have found it adds a great deal of ease when it comes to chemical maintenance.
The Ozonator I had when I purchased the tub was a mini J&J 220v 60hz. I picked up a replacement UltraPure at a local spa shop and they provided me a 240v/60hz unit. Once everything is hooked up and I flip the breaker back on, the breaker trips as soon as the Ozonator comes on (only works when the circulating pump is running and there is a call for heat). If I disconnect the Ozonator and turn the breaker back on the tub runs fine and then I can subsequently plug in the Ozonator and everything is good (I can see the blue light in the access hole). It only trips on inital startup. There is no water in the Ozonator lines and the check valves are functioning. Do I have a lemon for an Ozonator or could the problem be the 220v vs 240v units? The shop also had a 230v/50hz, but told me it was the 240v/60hz I needed. |
