Softub GFCI tripping
I have a newer Softub model (digital controls, led light) and it has worked fine for two years. This year I filled it up and plugged it in to the same outlet as last year, with the same 6 foot, heavy duty extension cord. After it was filled I turned it on and everything seemed fine for the first half a day. In the evening, I noticed that the GFCI breaker on the black hot tub cord had tripped. I reset it and I could hear the pump start up as usual. After about 60 seconds the GFCI tripped again. I tried a different extension cord, a different outlet and the same thing happened. My question is, do I need to drain the tub to troubleshoot the "pod"? Can I remove the control panel with the water still in the tub and investigate it, or do I need to drain the tub and disconnect the pump unit from the tub?
