| Sundance Spa tripping after running fine for 5-10 minutes |
Well this is crazy. Here's the scoop. I have a 2007 Sundance Hamilton spa. About 4 weeks ago we had a flood where the spa sits and the whole inside got wet. A storm drain got covered and about 3 ft or rain water sat where the spa is. It obviously tripped the GFCI and wouldn't reset, just kept tripping. After I found out that my insurance won't cover me, I started to panic.
I called for service from where I purchased the tub. When the guy came out he opened it up and said to place a fan there to dry everything out and then see what happened.
About a week later I was able to reset the GFCI and spa turned on. I was excited. The circualtion pump, ozonator, heater, lights and pump #1 (2 speed) seemed to work fine. But as soon as pump #2 (1 speed) came on the GFCI tripped. I left the tub turned off and called for service again. I figured I got lucky and it's just one pump that needs to be replaced.
Yesterday the service tech came back out and replaced pump #2 as he said it was shot. He drained the tub and replaced it. He started it up and it worked fine. I filled the tub and started it up again. The tub nows comes on, goes through it's start up mode and begins to run. Everything (pump 1, 2 heater, lights, ozonator and circ pump) run for about 5-10 minutes and then the breaker trips again. I tried setting the temperature below the water temperature so that the heater wouldn't be called for (don't know if that is true) and then did it again. After 10 minutes again it's trips.
It seems no matter what I do...pump 1 running only, pump 2 running only, heat, no heat....it keeps tripping. The only constant thing I notice is that the circulation pump and ozonator are always running.
Not sure what to do next. My bigger problem is that my insurance won't cover this and neither will the warranty. So everything is coming out of may pocket now. I already dropped $500 for a new pump. Any help would be great. Not sure can somethijg be overheating? |
