| "03" Balboa Waimea GFCI Tripping randomly? |
Our inground spa overheated a couple of times last spring, so we've had it off a couple of months now.
We filled it last week, turned it on, and about 5 minutes later the GFCI tripped. We turned it off, left it a few hours, and tried again. Sometimes it trips within minutes, once it heated all night before tripping the next day at about 95 degrees. We live in Las Vegas, so warming it up should be easy, even in November. We aren't seeing any error codes, all the pumps are working, it's just "randomly" tripping.
The hubby thinks that somewhere underneath we might have water contact? It goes the longest without tripping when we leave the motor cover seat open to air. But how in the world do you track that down?
It was installed 240V, has a dual motor and a single motor running automatically, M-7 controls and ozone.
I can get more info if needed, I'm just not sure what is relevent! Please help " title="Crying or Very sad" /> |

Disconnect everything but the filter pump (ozone, heat, second pump) and see if it still trips the breaker. If not, bring each component back online one at a time and see if any individual one makes a difference. |

Re: "03" Balboa Waimea GFCI Tripping randomly?
Hi, and thanks for the help " title="Cool" />
We've gone through all the possibilities, it looks like everything makes it trip. And then we check again and nothing makes it trip, and it'll run for an hour or two before giving up. It's all just too complicated (or read frustrating " title="Mad" /> ) for us. We had the electrician who installed it come over, paid the trip charge to find out that he can't tell what it is either. " title="Shocked" />
We're ready to just replace the whole power system, if we can find someone in Las Vegas who can get it done. The company we bought the spa from 3 years ago is MIA, so we can't check if it's still under warranty. We're also considering getting rid of it all and starting over... and my husband is talking about just turning it into a planter. " title="Laughing" />
We spent $7k on this big cold bathtub, it hurts. " title="Crying or Very sad" /> |

If everything makes it trip, try disconnecting the service from your control panel and capping each wire with a wire nut. Then turn on the breaker to nothing and see if it will hold with no load. |
