spa trips gfci in 220v mode not 120v mode
Hello All,
I would like to confirm my suspicions of a bad heating element.
first my setup:
baja sportub 1050 (unsure of year, i am the third known owner) brettaqualine BL-45 spa pack 30 amp 240v service to spa ( breaker is fine and wires are not burnt ) 1.0/4kw heater
About a month ago my utility pole was struck by lightning, unfortunately frying some items in my house. My spa pack being one of them. After replacing the control board in the spa pack, spa trips gfci instantly on restoring power in 240v setting. Doing the usual diagnosis flow chart I narrowed down to the heater. When heater unplugged spa pack runs flawlessly. So just for shirts and giggles I set the pack to use 120v mode and the unit works flawlessly. Is it safe to say the element is bad, my biggest question is however why would it work in 120v mode and not 240v mode.
