| Purex Tropic Isle gas heater switching off problem (pressure switch?) |
Hi
This gas heater keeps switching the burners off although the water temperature is not very hot. Theysometimes go on again about 5 to 10 mins later but it take forever to warm up the pool. The temperature control is set to max and still it does it.
I have noticed if I take the cover off the front, this sometimes makes the burners go on again but not always. Also, I noticed if I tap the pressure switch, it makes the burners go on again sometimes. Is it a new pressure switch I need? The pressure switch number is msps-ee05-011 proof 100psi.
I changed the main gas switch and the pilot generator (thermocouple) last year with new ones and it worked fine all last summer. The pilot light is on OK
Thanks

i don't know your brand but symptoms are universal. if your filter is blocked/dirty/not replaced in last 3 years - this is a likely symptom to check first - a blocked filter will reduce flow resulting in erratic or failed pressure switch operation.
if this does not fix it, the actual flow should be checked and the flow switch.
Also ensure sufficient gas supply - low gas pressure will also drop the flame out. |
