| Accent Spa not heating? |
My wife and I bought a used Accent Spa that seats about 5 to 6 people, I have no real clue how a spa should work other than what I have read off of the AccentSpa website. Since the purchase we have only used the spa once and it worked fine, after the use the kids had gotten in and out of the spa and we had grass clippings in the spa so I drained it. Ever since that first use the spa works fine but doesn't heat up, jet flow good, blower work, GFCI works good. Whenever I set it to run on heater mode the low pump light is on but the heat light doesn't turn on. Could the heater be bad? I replace the high limit switch thinking it was bad because before it would pop out and you could always push it in to reset. That didn't solve my problem so before I go and get a tech out to inspect it maybe someone can give me some advice.
P.S. I didn't know where to actually post this.
Thanks, Mag |

Re: Accent Spa not heating?
Kill the power, then disconnect the heater connections and use a volmeter to measure resistance. It may have had an air pocket in the system and burnt the element. Just like applying power to an empty electric water heater. |

Re: Accent Spa not heating?
What should be the correct volt reading 220?

Re: Accent Spa not heating?
It's not really the voltage reading your needing to check. It's the ohms to see if the element is burned out. Your reading will depend on the rating of the element. If it's zero, then it's burnt apart. It's an element just like what's in an electric water heater, which is really all this is, other than the tank is the tub your sitting in and the circulation pump moves the water over the element to heat it. You need to kill the power to the tub, cause it will be kinda bad if you grab the element leads while they're are hot. 220 volts doesn't usually feel too good. But you will also get a false reading thru the relay or components that supply the power to the element. You want to isolate the element and test it only. |

Re: Accent Spa not heating?
Got it, I hope to get my brother-in-law over this weekend so he can help me test since he's an apprentence electrician.
Thanks for the help, Mag |

Re: Accent Spa not heating?
There should be a valve on both sides of the heater so the element can be changed without having to drain the tub. |

Re: Accent Spa not heating?
Yes the heater has one valve on each side, I'm hoping to check it out this weekend and if possible buy the parts locally if they are reasonable if not online.
Thanks, Mag |

Re: Accent Spa not heating?
I had a spa guy come out a check the spa as I could never get my brother-in-law to come help me with the electrical part. Turns out it was a broken circuit breaker and once he replaced that the hot tub quickly started to warm up. |
