| Newbies watch out, what did I get myself into, new to spas |
We just got a hot tub, very good condition. I am not sure of the model # but it is a coleman spectrum series with powerworks I control box. We have it set where we want it and we are brand new with spas, feel dumb because we do not kmow what to do next. We do have a dedicated 220 for our air conditioning unit, can we plug into that? Do they have to be hard wired and can we do it from there? I am hoping someone can tell me where I can find a manual for this tub? We also have a dedicated dryer plug that we do not use, would it be better to use that one? Before we do all the hardwiring I wanted to make sure it was going to work properly is there a way to do that by plugging into the 220 outlets we already have available? All help is appreciated. Like I said we are NEWBIES at this and need quite a bit of input.
Thanks to all in advance " title="Confused" /> " title="Smile" /> |

Re: Newbies watch out, what did I get myself into, new to spas
In the end you need to have a dedicated GFCI breaker for the tub. The size will depend on your tub's needs, but it will probably be 40-60 amps.
I wouldn't recommend wiring it for testing on the other two circuits just in case there is already a component faulting on the tub. The best solution may be to have an electrician come out prepared to hard wire it but test it first. That way you'll only be on the hook for his time and not the required electrical components. Otherwise you'll need to buy a breaker and the required 8 or 10 AWG 4 conductor wiring and you may not be able to return one or both. |

I may have an owners manual, but I'll need a lot of info to determine. There should be a label on the control box with info... serial number, name, model number, year of manufacture etc. |

Re: Newbies watch out, what did I get myself into, new to spas
Thanks to all,
Dr. Spa I can not find anything besides spectrum on controls. I figure it is a 1997 or 98, no loungers but two seats with all the jets. Grey sides and a blue green inside, Not slick inside has like a bumpy texture to it. Head rest slip down into tub area not like the newwr ones, Powerworks I electric box date on that is 1997. Octoagon in shape holds about 6 people. Thats about all I can tell you. Help would be appreciated
Thanks " title="Sad" />
