| No air, only water |
HELP!!! We just replaced all of the Jets in our Viking II spa. When we started it up, we noticed we are getting water through the jets, but no air. We took the air controlers off and when we press down on the float ball, water comes up through...so it appears there is water in the air lines. Also, when the tub switches to the circulating cycle, FLO displays on the control panel. The weird thing is that with the thump of a palm, flo goes off and pump starts recirculating. Any ideas???? Flo, and Venturies
Hi Mikenbirdi,
Your pressure switch is sticking. The plunger is pressing up on the microswitch telling the board you have flow, however the board has not called for flow yet. The processor must halt on error. Then you smack it and jar the pressure switch loose, and all is well......until it goes to "ready".

I'm not sure what style of jets you have, but during the replacement, the seal of the venturi against the jet body was breached. Now instead of there being a negative draw or vacume at the jet housing, the pressure bypasses the seal back into the air control valve.
Check your internals, not the air control valves. " title="Wink" />
(ok, those are both educated guesses, but they sure sound good) " title="Smile" /> |

Your pressure switch may be a little weak as well, in which case you could simply rotate the knurled knob on the switch one turn counter-clockwise to loosen it up a bit. As far as the feedback in the air lines, I agree that the jet internals need to be looked at. Check for blockage, or improper assembly. Also, when you installed the jets, did you put the air portion of the jet plumbing at the top or bottom? They need to be on the top. |

dumb question...we put most of the jest in while the tub was emptied, but we did put in the upper ones after the water w3as in. Would this make a difference? |

Jet Internals
Hi Mikenbirdi,
First off, it makes no difference as to the water level while replacing jet internals. The directional mini, and roto storm jets are probably the culprits.
(smaller Jets)
They may have what is called a "Valve Internal" behind the internal you replaced. This valve internal serves to open and close the amount of flow form each jet. If you snapped staight out the internals with a flathead, then you can use the internal as a "Jet Wrench" to dislodge the valve internal.
Simply insert your jet face partialy into the housing, and unscrew the internal. As it loosens, you can then remove it by hand. ( or needle nose)
To re-insert, start the valve internal by hand, and complete the tightning withe the jet face. Then rotate the jet face back a quarter turn to open.
The Poly series screw into the housing, and then open a half turn counter clockwise. Those internals have their own seal on the back of the internal.
Let us know if this does not apply to your situation, so that I may adjust the misinformation. (eat Crow) " title="Wink" /> |

Is its possibility that a motor could be wired so that it runs backwards? Should the pump be pulling the water through the heater or pushing the water through the heater? When looking at the impellor, the motor runs clockwise and the design of the impellor is made to push water counter clockwise. Could this be the reason for no bubbles? Jets appear to be installed properly. |

Not likely. All spa motors are single phase, and do not have an option to reverse. The threads on the end of the shaft are standard thread, not reverse. If the pump were to somehow be reversed, the impeller would literally thread off of the shaft. The impeller should be rotating counter clockwise when looking at it from the front of the wet end. I can not see how it could possibly run in reverse. If the motor has ever been re-wound, then maybe, possibly, in an extremely rare situation, the motor shop may have wound it wrong. Not likely though since re-winding is definentally not cheap, and buying a new motor would be more economical vs. the labor. |

No Air
Hi Mikenbirdi,
Do you have water coming out of your jets? :
If not, then they won't "Air up"
If the bubbles you refer to that are missing orriginate from the shell, and not the jets, then your blower is bad. If the air is not mixing withe the flow of your jets, then the air control valve is closed, obstructed, or your JET INTERNALS are not seated.
If your pump were running backwards, then you would have no jets, heat, or filtration.
Did this problem occour after you replaced your jet internals?
