| Old Calspa not starting problems |
OK, I'm a hottub newbie. I got this 1994 calspa for a grand (too much, good price...it doesn't matter now, it's here!). It is a Traditional Series and the control box is a PS-4. They said it worked ok, and like a fool I believed them. I bought it 3 and a half months ago but I wasn't able to get it hooked up until now. We hooked up the power and nothing. Well, almost, we do get the light to come on. OK, so we start checking this and that, not really having much to go by. The hi-temp switch seems OK. the timer seem OK. But not sure if the relays or contacts are good though. I was worried that the pump was just plain dead so we jumped power directly over to the pump plug. The pump turns on alright, we can see the shaft and hear it running. But no water circulation. There is a very little amount of black colored debris coming out from one of the floor jets, but nothing at all from anywhere else. Is this because the jets aren't running? I'm not sure if I should start replacing components or look at buying one of those spa packs. not seeing any flow really bothers me. I did pull the impeller face off to see if something was in there but it seems fine. I emptied the tub last night and seen some of the same black debris coming out of the drain hose. I'm considering hooking the shop vac directly to the jets to maybe clear any crap that got down in there. That make sense? Also, is there supposed to be a way to just turn these things on and off? All I see is the breaker switch.
I'm ready to take the shotgun to this thing, but my kids are really really bugging me to get this thing running. HELP ME PLEASE (pretty please " title="Crying or Very sad" /> !!!!) |
