Should heater and jets work seperately?

I bought a used Blue Ridge Spa Hot Tub made by Jacuzzi. I think it is a late 90's model. It has the upgraded 6000w heater. It has 2 buttons on the panel. One for light and one for function. When I press function, the heater and jets come on. There is a thermostat or rheostat for temp setting.

Should I be able to just have the heater on without the jets? I only have one 110 line going in to one point (and 220 for the heater) Should there be 2 110 hookups somewhere so when I press the function button it alternates between heat, jets or both?

Also, I was reading in another post about a chap who had a faulty heater element and was getting "shocked". This is kind of scary, as I really don't like the thought of a possibility of electrocution in a hot tub. (Or by any other means for that matter.) How does that happen, and how can it be prevented? If I develop a major leak in the tub, is there the possibility of electrocution?

Sorry if I sound naive, it's my first hot tub.

Thanks for any help!

Take a photo of the control system underneath and post it here.

This one sounds a bit off on a Blue Ridge, especially for that year range.

Pageup,

Sorry for the delay in responding. I think I have it figured out.
It appears to be a 1994 model? The date on the tag say 9408, and I know it's not a 2008 model!. Blue Ridge Meadow is what it is called I think.

It has a timer, and when I pull all of the orange timer tabs out, and turn the dial, it comes on in low mode. Now I just need to figure out how to set the timer for programmed times on.

I couldn't get my digital camera working, so couldn't upload a photo.

The model number is:60066 Serial number: 31223

Also, is it safe to use epsom salt in it? If so, how much do I put in. Its a four person tub, and I think it holds about 300 gallons, but am not sure.

Thanks for your reply and help.

Back then Jacuzzi did not own Blue Ridge.

Yes you can probably use epsom salts in the tub but I have no idea how long you'll be able to go without changing your water though.... or the compatibility with sanitizers.

You need to install a ground fault circuit breaker on this tub. That is the one thing you absolutely must do.

Should heater and jets work seperately? GFI?

I have a circuit breaker at the pole, where the 220 comes out, and there is also a breaker at the control panel under the tub. It has a reset button. Is this a ground fault circuit breaker?

Thanks again!
