I am new here and just wanted to say Hello before I belted out this question (Hello) and now that I have that out of the way,
First, there are a couple parts to this question so I apologize in advance for that.
My wife and I moved into our house about 2 years ago and we have a Morgan Hot Tub that is not working (things like the yard, refinishing the kitchen, and other such.things had to come first), As far as I know the spa pack, pumps (there are 2 1/2hp), and heater are shot.
When my wife and I were looking at houses we looked at one that had a hot tub but with out all the garbage packed under the deck with the shell, the owner had it around the corner of the house where is was out of site in it's own area (which also made the tub area quiet), I cannot remember what or how he had it setup but I did ask him a few questions and I know the heater was a natural gas heater for a small (he thought above ground pool) He said (and proved) that he could turn it on and in about 15 to 20 minutes (late spring/early summer time) have the tub heated, he also had some pool filters(the larger drop in style pleated filter), and he also had one larger pump which was set up to run all the jets at the same time instead of having zones and all that garbage.
I would really like to do something like this, no spa pack just one larger pump that I can set on a timer to circulate, and this way I get all the jets all the time, and since I live in Texas it would be nice to have a heater that is natural gas (I know I can do this) but one large enough to heat the tub in 15 minutes to 1/2 hour depending on the outside temperature.
Last part of this is that I know someone that can give me a good deal on a 4 1/2 HP pump, would this be too much for the tub (it's 2am right now and I am not going to go check how many jets I have, but I can when I wake up(if I ever get to sleep)). Also, with my hot tub originally having 2 pumps is it going to be a pain to put it over to one pump would I just put a couple of Y's in where the old pumps were and connect it to my one pump or should I connect the pipe together to make one long run of pipe.
I hope someone out there has some comments or ideas, or maybe did something like this themselves and can help. |
