| one speed with no heat |
I picked up a older hot tub and was told everthing was working. After hooking everything up i found out that the heater wasn't working, this might be my fault as i may have turned it on with no water in it. I had a bad leak were the pump and the wet end meet. Of courser the shaft broke when i went to remove the impeller. When removing the air switch to gain access to the heater the terminals pulled out of the switch, i guess the plastic was brittle from age. So i bought a new pump, heater, seal kit and impeller and a used air switch, put it all together and here is were the fun begins. The heater doesn't work and the pump stays on the low speed. When i activate the air switch the pump stays on low, the red light comes on that indicates the heater is working but goes off as soon as i release the switch. If i hold the switch down the red light stays on for 2 or 3 seconds then i here a click and it goes out. This is a 220v system. What have i done wrong, have i mixed up some wires? Is my used air switch to blame? Or is it something else? Also i have a neuttal wire left over, could this be the problem? Any help or suggestions would be appreciated, thanks |
