| 1998 Hot Springs Sovereign Valve Body Diverter leak |
I have rebuilt most of the plumbing on this unit and just found one more leak. It's the valve body diverter.
Does anyone have any advise on and easy way to replace it?
Thanks in advance. |

Re: 1998 Hot Springs Sovereign Valve Body Diverter leak
Is it leaking into the equipment area or just out the top? |

Re: 1998 Hot Springs Sovereign Valve Body Diverter leak
it's leaking from both. I removed the divertervalve and saw that it had a O-ring. I figured on replacing it. Underneath it's leaking from one of the ports (the middle one). I can't get my head up there far enough to see if it's the fitting that's cracked or the 1 1/2 hose that might have released a bit from the fitting.
What a place to get to...LOL
I figured on replacing the whole diverter valve body to be safe.
Let me know if anyone has any input. |

Re: 1998 Hot Springs Sovereign Valve Body Diverter leak
Replacing that whole diverter body is an absolute nightmare. Check this first, I have seen it many times: Make sure that the water that is leaking out on the top side is not seeping through the two small holes that the diverter bezel snaps into. If it is it leaks through and runs down the black valve body.
Here's a way to check:
I usually keep the diverter bezel off (but leave the diverter valve and retainer clip in) and put a shop vac hose in there and let the jets run for a while. The shop vac will catch the water leaking out the top and eliminate the chance that it is seeping down through. Hopefully this is what's happening. If so you can just silicone the holes when you put the bezel back on.
If it is in fact the divereter valve and is a glue joint leak you are better off using a devcon epoxy or AquaBond to seal the joint. |

I saw it spraying from the middle valve. It was on top of the middle valve. I'm going to try a mirror to get a better angle in the morning.
I'll let you know what I find out |

Re: 1998 Hot Springs Sovereign Valve Body Diverter leak
I have been working on one where the whole diverter body is cocked. You can see where it doesn't fit to the top deck flush. It leaks out the top and then through to the equipment area. I have sealed the top portion and it still leaks. Thanks Dan, I will check the holes - I didn't know they went all the way through. I agree, to replace the whole thing would be a nightmare. The only way I see to do it easily would be to remove the slats and structure in the front. This causes more work. |

I've fixed about 10-12 diverters like you are describing. It not only leaks from the holes, but there is no seal between the black top of the diverter body and the shell, so it leaks out there.
I use the AquaBond product to fix these. I put a bead 360 degrees around the black diverter collar (where it meets the shell), fill in any cracks in the top collar(some have cracks, some don't), then i put silicone in the two small hales where the bezel nubs go into.
I replaced two of these bodies and yes, you have to cut out the wood around the front panel. You also need to use unions instead of couplers to meet up with the old lines because there isn't enough room to bend in the new 1 1/2" tiger flex hosing. I would try any repair to fix these rather than replace them.

Re: 1998 Hot Springs Sovereign Valve Body Diverter leak
Thanks Dan. I agree, replacing is not worth it. I'll try sealing it again. My problem is that my owner will sell it (it's a trade in) not caring if it leaks again. I had this fixed and not leaking for 6 months.
Oh Well |

I just swapped it for my brothers 99 Tiger River. My wife liked the interior color better
Thanks for the assistance. |

Re: 1998 Hot Springs Sovereign Valve Body Diverter leak
I replaced my diverter valve Body and it was not difficult at all. Just follow the directions that come with the new valve body. I believe the part kit was $28.00. |

Spanky, I think you are talking about the diverter valve itself which is very easy to replace. The part we were talking about replacing here is the black PVC diverter "Body" which is what the diverter lever sits in. To do this you need to cut the front of the hot tub wood apart, cut all 6 1.5" lines off that glue into it. Replace the body, then couple all six pressure lines back together into the valve body all within a very tight space.
If this is what you did and consider it easy you can do them for me in the future!!! " title="Very Happy" /> |

Re: 1998 Hot Springs Sovereign Valve Body Diverter leak
dan you are right. The part I replaced was much easier than what you described. I sure hope I don't have to replace that anytime soon. Thanks for setting me straight.
