Broken fitting in late 1990's Sovereign

Hello,

I have a Hot Springs Sovereign that's been leaking around the moto massager. I dug into the foam and found the problem, there's a small tube that connects directly to a nipple that's built into the tub. The nipple that is coming off the side of the tub is broken, leaving only about a 1/8 - 1/4" nub. Not enough to reconnect the tube.

Anyone have ideas on the best way to fix this? I'm thinking about wirebrushing around the fitting then epoxying another fitting over the top of this, then using silicon all around to seal. Will this work?

Thanks in advance!

Edit: After looking through the forums it seems this is a common problem. Some suggest sealing the fitting instead of repair, what is the consensus on this? Would be much easier than repairing.

Here's a picture:

Re: Broken fitting in late 1990's Sovereign

I usually recommend replacing it with the new fitting.

You would drill out the existing hole with a 19/64" drill bit. PVC glue in the new nipple and use a short piece of hose and a coupling to re-attach.

Thanks Dan, is there a specific fitting to be used? Do I just use standard PVC cement as I would on PVC pipes?

Sent you a pm. Yes, just a standard PVC glue and primer. I have used the medium body type for many years without and problems.
