| Hot Springs Prodigy Leaking from Bottom |
Our Hot Springs Prodigy hot tub is leaking from the bottom left corner (when looking at the instrument panel). There is a round opening I can see on the bottom of the tub (the base that overhangs) and it is the only one. It is shown on the underside (leveling points) diagram in the owner's manual but I'm not sure what it is. There is no water in the equipment compartment. The hot tub has remained full year round and has been kept heated, although we did have a day or two when we lost heat and it was restored by flipping the breaker. Can anyone tell me what this round opening is and what might be causing the leak? |

Re: Hot Springs Prodigy Leaking from Bottom
What year is it 2000-2001?
The opening is an air-intake for the jet pump, the water must be coming from something else and trickling out there. There is an old style air-intake valve that may need to be retro-fitted with a 'Hartford-Loop' if it has not already been done. The old valves leaked. |

Re: Hot Springs Prodigy Leaking from Bottom
Thanks! I believe it's a 2000. We have not had any work done on the intake valve. Maybe that's the problem. You don't think there's a quick and easy fix we can do ourselves without draining the tub, do you? |

Re: Hot Springs Prodigy Leaking from Bottom
The air-intake "Tee" is actually in the motor compartment, even though it leaks out of the corner. It is either black or white and is located up high somewhere. It has (2) 3/4" lines and (1) 1/8" line coming out of it. You replace it without draining the tub. |

Re: Hot Springs Prodigy Leaking from Bottom
Ok this thread is interesting for my problem. I have a 2001 Prodigy, and it is leaking out of the corner on the left of the control panel. In that corner is the seat that has the Soothing seven jets. I do have water in the pump compartment, but it appears to be coming in through the air intake hole; it runs down behind the panel, hits the black hose and rolls into the bottom of the compartment. Some of the water travels through the pump compartment; some is just running out the bottom left corner. The leak is a constant running, like a faucet cracked open. When the jets are on, the water is running out more like a garden hose pressure. Until I saw this thread, I was wondering if the jets had an o ring, since they rotate to control the air/water mix. Do those jets come open, so I can inspect inside the jet body ??
On the air intake issue, I have looked up in the compartment, and don't see the air intake you mention. I see the water distribution manifold and some hoses clear up at the top. Not sure what I am looking for. Would this problem behave as described ?? Sort of small leak at rest; large leak under pressure ??? |

Re: Hot Springs Prodigy Leaking from Bottom
The old air intake is a black or white Elbow looking thing with two 3/4" hoses and one 1/8" hose coming off of it. If it has been replaced with a Hartford loop, the loop is shaped like a 'M' made out of 3/4" hose. Shouldn't have a leak if you have the loop.
You may have a problem with a glue joint leak in the bank of ten jets if that is the case. You would need to take the boards off from the corner and dig some foam out to see the plumbing. |
