| Leak after refill |
1st post
I drained my spa for about 8 months and refilled it this weekend. Made sure to get most of the water out so it wouldnt freeze over the winter. Now that it is filled up and running it has developed a leak at the pump. I can see it running out when the pump is running.
Is there just a O ring kit that I could install in this. Any help or links would be awesome.
TIA |

Where is it leaking? If it's the back of the pump where the motor shaft goes through, it could be just a pump seal. If it's from where one of the large nuts attach for the plumbing, sometimes just tightening them down is enough, otherwise it's an o-ring.
Now for the kicker. You drained the tub, but did you drain the pump's wet end? If not, it may have frozen and split the housing, requiring replacement of the whole wet end. These wet ends do come apart in 2 pieces, and there is a gasket sealing the two halves, but 99% of the time these will not fail, but ice can split the housing easily. |

Thanks for the reply charger1. When I drained the tub I made sure there would be very little standing water in it. Also, I open anything I could and blew the lines out with my shop vac.
I took the pump out today and replaced the spring seal and re installed it. It is running right now with no leaks. So far so good on that end. I am crossing my fingers that something else is not leaking right now. |
