| Sundance Spa emptied itself and was dead upon discovery |
Around Christmas, I discovered that my Sundance Spa had bled out and died. Yesterday, I finally got around to pulling the covers off and refilling it. I found that one of the large hoses coming out of a fitting from the left main pump had either pulled away from the fitting or otherwise sprung a leak. Downward pressure on the fitting generates a pretty high volume upward spray. Under pressure from an operating pump, the tub undoubtedly quickly pumped itself out pretty quickly.
Here are my questions:
If I disassemble the fitting from the pump what are my odds of success simply re-gluing the assembly back together?
The tub shut itself down (electrically). My circuit breaker was still on, I haven't checked my main cutoff fuse box. I have pulled the Buss fuse from the control board but do not know its condition. What should I expect? Should / did a fuse save the heater? What other damage should I expect? It doesn't appear that any freeze damage occurred, but under pump pressure I suppose I could get some surprises.
Bottom line, is this thing worth saving with a few easy fixes or will the problems overwelm me?
More information - the tub is maybe approaching 10 years old. I have begun having problems with a black mildew sort of growth with the tub (as has a friend in the area with another Sundance tub).
Thanks for anything you can offer. |
