| Tiger River Siberian Repair/ Thanks Dan!! |
Thanks to "Dan the Spa Man" I finally found the plumbing leak in my 98 Siberian. After digging out the foam to expose the plumbing where I was sure the leak was, I found that it was not leaking there. Finally found the burst pipe exactly where Dan had originally said it would be. I have replaced the bad pipes and check valves and the spa is now leak free!! Thanks Dan, you were a tremendous help.
Now, My Question: How do you guys put these spas back in service after the foam is removed?? That foam is so hard that I have to guess that it has some structural function as well as insulation. My plan is to pack my excavation areas with fiberglass insulation and then screw some treated plywood to the base of the tub to keep the critters out. Will this be OK?? Is that foam needed to support the weight of the filled tub??
Thanks... |

Glad I could help and it was my pleasure. Do you want a job? " title="Very Happy" /> I fix hundreds of tubs up here in the northeast that freeze so I know where most of them blow out.
Most tubs don't even have insulation so the amount that you took out is not needed for structural support in your Siberian. Your idea should work fine and will be much cheaper. Just make sure it is sealed off well from rodents and I usually spray for ants a few times a year just to make sure they don't nest in the foam.
Nice work on the repair! |
