| Wet End Leak |
I have an older hot tub with an Aqua-Flo Master HP pump. I noticed water leaking from the bottom face screw at the front of the wet end. After first verifing that a loose screw was not the problem, I removed all the screws & took off the front of the wet end. The o-ring was intact and I saw nothing that looked like the cause of the problem. I thought about just replacing the o-ring, but apparently 5" o-rings are non-existent. Any suggestions? |

Re: Wet End Leak
I had a leak in the same area, however different hot tub and manufacturer.
I knew the leak was in the wet end, and turns out the outside plastic casing had a crack in it. Since the casing is black it is very hard to see even when it was off, but it was replaced and now no problem at all. The options were a brand new wetend for about $150, or just the plastic wetend endcap with outlet portion for $50. Seeing the wetend looked good, and not wanting to have to remove the entire wetend including impellor....replacing just the end piece suited me well.
There is also the washer that may be in need of repair, you'll have to take apart to know for sure.
While this is the problem and fix that worked for me, perhaps some other knowledgeable people can also offer their advice through their experience. You may also find some help by searching through previous posts which relate to wetends.
Good luck. |

Re: Wet End Leak
As Sudz said you should check for cracks. Inspect the o-ring - if it looks like it has flatened then you should try to find a replacement. Sometimes you can lube the oring and get the leak to stop. |

Re: Wet End Leak
Thanks for your quick responses. I will recheck the casing for cracks. If that is not the problem and I decide to get a new o-ring, where can I get one? I need a 5" inside diameter, 5 & 1/4 outside diameter. The only one close that I've found is 5 & 1/2" outside and definitely won't work. I've searched all the local spa, plumbing and hardware stores. |
