| question from newby |
I am in the process of shopping for a used tiger Siberian. (5year old model). How does this company/model rate with you guys?
The owner says that it has a leak from failure to winterize.
I can not inspect prior to purchase, but do have pics.
What could a leak due to freezing incur. If its only pvc I have no problem repairing, can it affect heatres or pumps?
How hard or expensive is it to obtain tiger parts, ie: pump or heater if that is what I have to fix? Costs of same?
Thank you, ALex

A frozen tub can have problems ranging from a simple broken fitting to massive damage. Damage including cracked housing on the pump and heater, filter, etc... split flex pvc lines, even a cracked shell. Parts to most tubs are actually made by other manufacturers such as waterway, hydro air, hayward, etc and can be purchased just about anywhere. A pump housing would require a new wet end ranging from 65 to 120 bucks, the heater housing can range about the same. The biggest problem is getting at the leaks. Some tubs are so well insulated that you won't see where the leak is, and you will start by carving out all the foam inch by inch until you get to the source of the leak, following the water trail. I had a sundance that had a leak that showed up on the opposite side of the tub and took about 4 days of carving and filling and draining to get to the leak, and I caused about 3 more leaks just by knicking hidden lines in the foam!
Good luck |
