| severe loss of water overnight...happens randomly |
2 times in the last 6 months, my parents tub has lost a foot of water overnight. enough water that the fail safe trips such that the pumps stop pumping.
they had a tech come out but they couldn't figure out what the problem was.
i don't think that it is a leak cause it isn't consistent but I don't know enough to determine what might have happened. I tried doing some of the leak checking stuff but the first time it happened in winter and the second time it happened after it rained.
any ideas?
thanks in advance. |

Re: severe loss of water overnight...happens randomly
If it's NOT a leak there's really only two possibilities.
1. You live in the antarctic and left the cover off (-100 degree temps might allow for that much evaporation).
2. The worlds largest herd of migratory raccoons came by and were thirsty.
There might be a third possibility, but I think it rather remote........ aliens were flying by, were thirsty, and you have the only water for miles around... "Beam me up, some water Scotty".
I'm thinking though, there's probably a better chance you have a leak of some type " title="Rolling Eyes" /> |

Re: severe loss of water overnight...happens randomly
we are in winnipeg.....it could get to antarctic temperatures but I didn't know that you'd get evap from cold temps?
what kind of leak would be so in consistent? wouldn't it happen everytime we fill it up? |

Re: severe loss of water overnight...happens randomly
I'm near San Francisco and on (what we would consider) a cold night could lose easily 4" to evaporation, IF the cover's left off.
Hot water, cold air, lots of evaporation. |
