| small leak -- will DEVCON work? |
I recently replaced the filter canister on a 1995 Cal Spa. Apparently I didn't get one of the connections glued in well, so I have a small drip where the flex pipe enters a coupling.
Does any one know if Devcon plastic weld (2-part epoxy) will work to patch this? The leak isn't in a place where cutting out the coupling and replumping that section is an option. I would have to go all the way back to the canister, and potentially replace the canister if I am not able to remove the glued PVC. If Devcon will not work, do you know of another solution?
Thanks. |

A neat thing that works in your case is the vacuum technique. If you can plug/ block off or tape over the jets or fittings to that pipe, put a shop vac or vacuum into one open end. with the suction on suck in some primer into the joint, the suck in some glue. Works great!
Devcon or zip-patcing the outside of the pipe will only be a bandaid. |

I've used Devcon for hundreds (maybe even a thousand) applications like this for 15 years and never had any re-repairs on any of the original repairs. Just make sure the area is clean and dry, I usually clean it with primer first. I have also had 100% success with the Aquabond product that is advertised in the pool/spa industry. Anyone else like this stuff?

Another vote for DEVCON.
Never had a repeat leak using the stuff. |

DEVCON worked
Thanks for the advice. Applied a thick coat of Devcon all the way around the fitting and have had no problems since. |
