| 1993 Cal Spa pumps stop running after 20 minutes |
Hi, I am new to this forum, hopefully I can find some help here.
I recently purchased a condo that came with a 1993 Cal Spa 7'. I have done all the prep work, drain, clean, refill, bleed the air out, even replaced one relay that buzzed constantly (upper right of control box). The Spa heats up perfectly and works great except, when you run the jets, like clockwork after 20 minutes they stop, and in addition the low speed (circulation) motor is not running at that time either. If you press the jet button (air) you hear the click in the control box. If you wait about 15 minutes the whole system just starts up again and then repeats the same cycle after another 20 minutes. No strange noises, it just cuts out. I have tried to test it at lower temperatures and/or with the air venturis or various jets opened and closed and the same thing happens. Has anyone ever experienced something like this before???? I talked to my spa guy and he said that was a new one for him. Any help or ideas would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Shep |

Re: 1993 Cal Spa pumps stop running after 20 minutes
Is it a single pump system? It sounds like a thermal cutoff, either in the motor or less likely the spa high limit itself. If your high limit is a push button style then never mind that one.
Open up the back of the motor and check for loose/charred connections. |
