My in laws gave me their Dynasty spa since they had to stop using it for health reasons. My BIL and I hooked it up last weekend and everything works... except for the jet pumps. Wink FWIW, the circulation pump, blower, lights and ozonator all work.

Both pumps ran when we hooked up the power, but did not really seem to be moving enough water. Then they should thermal disconnect, cool down and repeat. The pumps sounded "funny", like they were single phasing, but everything seemed to test out correctly.

Eventually during our testing, the 88-106MFD caps on both motors overheated and leaked their oil. After my BIL returned home, I replaced the start and run caps with new ones, but that did not improve anything. In fact, one of the caps actually overheated so quickly it ruptured. Sad

Below are the readings I am getting:
Note: They changed up the wire colors and used blue wire for both Neutral and Hot lines.

Utility AC Input Line:
Ground->Red = 115V
Ground->Black = 115V
Ground->White = 0V
Red->White = 115V
Black->White = 115V
Red->Black = 230V

Board AC Input Side:
Ground->Red = 115V
Ground->Black = 115V
Ground->Blue = 0V
Red->Blue(Neutral) = 115V
Black->Blue(Neutral) = 115V
Red->Black = 230V

Pump 1 Leads:
Ground->Brown(hi speed) = 115V
Ground->Black(lo speed) = 115V
Ground->Blue(Hot) = 115V
Blue->(whichever speed line) = 230V

Pump 2 Leads:
Ground->Brown(hi speed) = 115V
Ground->Black(lo speed) = 115V
Ground->Blue(Hot) = 115V
Blue->(whichever speed line) = 230V

We did not change any of the internal wiring, just hooked up the AC power side. Since the blue pump lead was always 115V hot and the speed line was pushing 115V we got the impression that it was wired correctly to run 230V.

Any assistance would be appreciated. I can pull any other readings needed to assist with debugging. I would prefer not to have to spring for 2 new pumps, but certainly will if these just sound toasted.

Anyone have a clue? Should I just replace the pump motors?
