Changed circ pump, now motors will not run DimensionOn Calf

Augghhh...

I replaced the circulation pump on my 98 D1 Californian. The instructions said to use the internal flow switch in the new motor rather than the one on the spa. So I disconnected the wiring to the flow sensor (pressure switch) and plugged in the cable from the new pump to that connection on the motherboard.

The directions also said to connect the wiring to the new circ pump to 220 rather than 110. I did this according to the directions by moving the white wire that comes from the new pump from the netural post to one of the other posts (marked red and black respectively). I chose the black post as it was easier to get to.

When I turned the power on at the breaker, it immediately reset and no power went to the spa. I then moved the circ pump white wire back to its original position knowing that would only give 110 v to the circ pump. Turned the breaker back on and the only thing that would work on the spa is the lights.

Lastly, I moved the white wire from the circ pump to the red post.

Having done all of that, now, when I turn the power on at the breaker, the ONLY thing that works is the lights. When I push the button to turn on the jet pumps, the lights do come on (once for low, twice for high, and a third time for off), however, the motors do not start. Neither does the circ pump - it never did work.

I am going to test the voltage to the larger fuse, but am really frustrated. Any help here at all would be greatly appreciated!!

This is so expensive, please give me some guidenance here.

Thanks in advance!

Dennis

Re: Changed circ pump, now motors will not run DimensionOn Calf

It turned out to be a bad GFI. I still have a problem though. After changing the GFI, the spa motors did run again, however, the new circ pump did not. I had read here that you could jump the contacts to the flow switch. I did that and it began to work for a second, then quit. I reconnected the jumper back to the motherboard and then nothing happened.

Nothing would work, however, periodically the spa will turn on and off repeatedly. I am really baffled and would appreciate any responses. In the meantime, I have turned the power to the spa off at the breaker. I am hoping!! that it will somehow reset when I turn the power back on.

Thanks again in advance!

Dennis
