| 110v at both terminals of heater to ground, but won't heat |
I have 110v at both terminals of heater to ground, but won't heat, it is supposed to be 220v, it sounds like the element is bad, but when i ohm it, it show 0.

That is an incorrect method for measuring voltage to a 220v heater. If it's getting 220v, you'll only get a 110v reading from 1 terminal to ground. If one of the legs ?is NOT working, you'll get 110v from each leg to ground (voltage will travel through the heater, out the "dead" leg to ground giving a 110v reading. You HAVE to measure across the terminals and read 220v for it to be operating correctly. If it DOESN'T read 220, one of the legs of power is dead.
If you disconnect the wires from the heater, then test each to ground, you'll THEN be able to tell which leg is dead. Then trace it back and figure out where the power is stopping. |

I'm going through the same thing. Charger 1 told me to check the relays, which I finally got to this weekend. The coil in one relay is open which is why it won't work. I cut the relay open and found melted plastic inside around the coil.
Newark no longer stocks this specific relay however REM had two, so I ordered both. They should arrive later this week. Ordering through the REM website bypassed the minimum order stipulation. Some of those folks have a $300 minimum. " title="Shocked" /> |
