| Another Cal Spa heating problem |
Ok I bought this spa with no idea what year it is or if it even worked...it came with all the plumbing and stuff for it and then just the shell, no skirt or framing at all. So as I progressed in the project I put the framing under it first of course then put siding on it and of course built a bar off of it. Now I have it full, wired it, and turned it on. Worked great...but first I will tell you the gap between the flow thing and the filter had a fitting like a 1 1/2" x 1 1/2" x 1/2" and something had been broken off inside of it. So I just plugged it with some JB weld and a little rednecking. Anyways the tub came on and everything works except the jets which I figured out was the air pressure switch in the pannel (it has hoses running from the controlls to it). No big deal. The little heater light was on and I turned it all the way up to get it hot. Next day it was up to 104 and the heater was off. Then I never changed the setting but it went down to about 90 and still no heater all though I can hear the panel buzzing there was nothing else on. I kinda gave it a love tap and bam it came back on and heated back up to 104 GREAT! Well not so great cause now I can't just give it the love tap anymore and the little knob to turn it up seems to be the problem cause sometimes I mess with that and it turns on but only for a few seconds. My question is... is it the heater? Thermostat? something to do with that little broken off hole I plugged? I know absolutely nothing about this spa or spas in general I really needs some help. I will post pictures tommorrow or I can try to take some tonight in the dark just to give you the idea of what spa it is (its not pretty under there I warn ya...talk about redneck I had some leaks at the fittings so I couplinged that stuff together with rubber plumbing couplings also)
Thanks anyone that can give any advice it is greatly appriciated! Also anyone know where to get any parts for this thing? Know what year it is? I can't find any info in this exact tub. Thanks again! |

Re: Another Cal Spa heating problem
Right by the thermostat. I recently discovered the heater works fine...if I push the contacts inside that panel on the heater and the pump the water starts getting warmer... My guess then was the thermostat (any ideas where to get one?). But then I took the thermostat off and just touched the two wires from it together to get it to act like it was all kicking on and only the pump came on not the heater?????? |
