| Balboa Lite LD, no heat |
I have a Balboa Lite Lsd 240v system Pump runs with no heat working, no heat light. No error messages just present temp ( accurate ). I have no power reading at my heater element with the power on. With an ohm test I get 14.8 with the meter set to 200. Power 240v, 240v, 120v is coming in. I have checked all 3 glass fused for continuity, all ok. I have re calibrated the pressure ( a big problem area on this unit ). I am running the tub with the filters removed. Recently replaced to sensor wiring. Last year installed a new complete heater unit with pressure switch. 1 1/2 years ago a new transformer.
so... any thoughts Jim in Michigan |

I have just recalibrated it the old way ( manually, I listen for a click ) my heat light is now on but still get no reading at the heater element!! Transformer ?? I will test that next.

Re: Balboa Lite LD, no heat
I have found the problem. The black wire going to J18 at the heater magnet is fried. It is fried away at the connection prong leaving me very little to hook a recleaned wire and conneter to. The QUESTION... WHY???

Re: Balboa Lite LD, no heat
age and amperage.
The heater pulls more amps than about anything else. If a connection isn't perfect, it will begin to overheat, and, eventually, you see the result as burnt wires or burned relay, etc.
The wires get hottest (physically) where the connection is poorest, that's alot of energy trying to get from A to B. |

Re: Balboa Lite LD, no heat
Hi Swine, I think what I did was nick the side of the case with the tester on one side. Its a Wiggy 120-240 unit. I managed to resolder the connecter in question and re hook up. Now the pump runs and the heat light is on but no heat. I know I have seen on other posts with illustrations to test one heat element connection to the other. I get no power there ( but aren't they both blacks. I've contiuity tested both wires that go from the board to the element nuts. There is power coming at both connections on the board for the element. The element when off reads 14.8 ohm on setting 200.
