| Hot Springs Grandee not heating up |
I have a Hot Springs Grandee that was installed in 1988. It has not had any water in it for 3 years. I filled it with water but it's not heating up. None of the breakers are tripping. I took apart the SilentFlo 5000 circulating pump (not magnetic) and put a new hose on and confirmed that it is circulating well. But I still have no heat. The heater box is cold to the touch.
What's my next step in solving this problem?
thanks Nick |

Re: Hot Springs Grandee not heating up
Is the heater breaker (the 30 amp 220v breaker) good? (Be sure to get 220v across the poles)
Are the elements getting 220v? |

Re: Hot Springs Grandee not heating up
Hi everyone,
I have a similar situation, with a little more background. I have a used Grandee (about 1999) that when I bought it the owner told me that I needed to reset the heater sometimes when the power was cut from the hot tub. Last weekend we had a power outage, and as usual, I needed to reset the heater by pressing the button on the element itself. When I reset the heater, it comes on and warms up, but only for about 2-3 minutes. I tried shutting the spa off at the breakers (which are not flipped) and then turning it back on and resetting the heater, but it keeps kicking off after a couple of minutes. My questions: 1.) do you think the heater is simply "shot" and needs replacing? 2.) could it be in the thermostat/electrical box problem? If so, how would I find that out? Or 3.) something I am not thinking about? Thanks, Nick |

Re: Hot Springs Grandee not heating up
I have finally got the control box open and the first thing I figured out was that one of the legs on the 2-pole breakers was not seeing 120V.
This is a Square-D 30A GFI breaker. I think it's this one:

It looks the same. Can someone here confirm that it is the proper model.
thanks

Re: Hot Springs Grandee not heating up
to jnporcello,
do you have circ. pump flow? Dirty/ clogged filter on the grey/hollow standpipe? Try removing the filter. |

Re: Hot Springs Grandee not heating up
Thanks, That was it. The filters needed cleaning. I'm glad it was that simple. |
