Installed a new techmark topside controller with digital display. Everything was working fine and the unit was holding at 104F. When I turned the dial a tad too high, it shut down the heater when the temp got to 105F. When the temp dropped below 105F, the heater function returned. I assume this is the built in safety function of the unit.
So, I go out today and the unit is reading 115F and flashing. The floating thermometer in the tub is reading 115F. The heater pump is on, and even if I turn the dial all the way down, the heater pump stays on. The high limit had tripped, and would not reset, presumably because the temp is too high. So the heater is not heating.
The only way I could get the heater pump to shut off was to either turn on the jets, or de-energize the tub. plugging the unit back in, the heater pump continues to run.
So the tub is sitting, unplugged at 115F, with a brand new topside control.
Any idea what the problem is? Not sure why the unit did not shut down when the temp got to 105. It was doing it in the past, but now it seems the exact opposite occured. I'm thinking it might be a stuck contactor, because A) the topside controller is brand new, and B) when I de-energize/re-energize the unit, the pump comes back on, even after disconnecting the controller from the spa pack.
If this is the case, I know it's easy to replace, but I'd need some guidance on where to look, and where to get the replacement part. I have a Brett Aqualine spa pack.
Thanks. |
