| Leisure Bay froze during winter - won't turn on |
We inherited a Leisure Bay Smart Console Series LB102 hot tub when we purchased our home. The box says Balboa Instruments 12/01/97. We are slowly learning, but it's been an adventure. Our latest was that during the winter, the hot tub stopped working and the water froze on the top (about 3-4 inch layer). We hadn't been checking it as frequently as we should. It appeared as though the GFI kicked out, but it wouldn't turn back on. We removed the ice, emptied the tub, poured antifreeze in and waited for warmer weather. When we could, we cleaned it out and inspected the hoses. One had become dislodged, but none leaked. Whew! So, we thought we were in the clear. However, when we turned the power back onto the hot tub. Nothing. We didn't see any resets on the actual box. We are wondering if it would be the heater? Our guess is it broke...thus the frozen H2O and tripped GFI. However, I don't know a lot about hot tubs and would appreciate any input. Should I have someone come and look at it? Should I just replace the heater? Any input would be appreciated. Thanks!!

disconnect the two wires going to the heater, reset the GFI, and see if you have a functioning tub. If so, replace the heater. |
