Masterspas Exeter not Heating (& How to Prime the Pump?)

I am brand new to the Spa game and need some help.

We have a new Masterspas Down East Exeter model. 2 weeks old.

Has worked great since we got it. Yesterday the temperature had gone down from 104 to 95. It was not heating up and was flashign "DR" which means (according to the manual) "possible inadequate, poor flow, or air bubbles are detected in the heater."

I then hit any button and that error goes away. It then displays "Dry" which means (according to the manual) "inadequate water detected in heater".

I've followed the instructions to the extent I'm able, which are "Check water level" (which I've done) and "Make sure the pumps have been primed" (WHICH I HAVE NO IDEA HOW TO DO - PLEASE HELP).

Otherwise, besides priming the pump - any other suggestions?? I will say that the day it started happening the water level was a tad low but certainly not below the minimum water line.

Please help - I'm very bummed to have a 2 week old new spa that has stopped working.

Thanks!

This is a Balboa M7 system issue.

Don't waste your time posting here, honestly... call master spas and get them to fix it. You should be under warranty.

Sounds like a totally fubar'd spa system to me anyways.

Thanks for your reply. I will certainly call Masterspas.

But what did you mean by "This is a Balboa M7 system issue. "?

M7 is very sensitive to temperature differential in the heater. If water flow isn't perfect, then you'll get these errors.

You may want to be sure the pumps actually pump water (really well) when you hit the jet buttons too.

If not, then you've got an air lock or other related issue.

Master Spas should be able to walk you through getting this system up and running on the phone.

Thanks for your continued help -

How do I make sure "the pumps actually pump water (really well)"?

And do you know how to "prime the pump"?

Well You need to give me some feedback on what the water's doing in the tub when you activate the control panel functions. So far you've said nothing on whether or not anything works.

Otherwise this conversation is pointless.

That's fair.

Everything else seems to be working fine. When I turn off the power at the GFI box, then turn it back on, the display cycles through its normal cycle. It even lights the "heat" button after about 2 minutes.

Then, after about a minute, the "Dry" error message comes up and the heat turns off.

Both jets buttons work fine. The light button works fine. I am able to switch between the three modes (Standard, Economy and Sleep) and I keep it on Standard, which is the manual says to.

The temperature is set to 104 (the max) but the actual temp is 88F.

Does that help? Please let me know if there's anything else you need to know. I just know that with regard to the "Dry" error, the manual says to make sure and 'prime the pump' but I can't find anywhere that it tells how to do that.

Thanks.

So, apparently you do have adequate water flow thru your jets when the jets are selected?

If so, then you need to talk to the factory for sure.

yes, the jets are shooting out water just fine.

I'll call them on Monday. Thanks again.
