| My luke warm spa. Please help!!! |
Hi all,
I have an odler early 90s model Hot Springs spa. It runs on 120v. I just replaced the heater element. I turned the heat all the way up and it's been on for about 19 hours and is only luke warm. How long dose it usally take for a 325 gallon spa to heat up to correct temp? What else should I be looking at? I has a fairly new cover which has been on it and fits real snug.

i always ask customers to wait at least 24 hrs
in the meantime, ensure any air control valves are closed,
the heater may not actually be working, just heating from the circ pump running - check the overtemp cut out on the heater. check power to the heater |

I made sure that the heater was working yesterday. I turned off the circulating pump and made sure that the element was heating up the water in the housing. Also made sure there was power to the element. I don’t have the pump/jets running because I was told that the pump and the heater can’t run together. Are the air control valves the white handle on the top sides? How do they affect the temp? Just wondering I’m new to all this. When I put the element back in yesterday I put the thermostat as far it would go in the tube that runs down the middle of the element is this correct. I’m afraid maybe I put it in to far (to close to the element) and it’s getting to hot and shutting off the heater. Could this be the problem? Thank you so much for your time!!!! |

if you've verified the heater to be working then its just a matter of time.
sensors in heaters have no problem unless flow is too low due to dirty/blocked filters, however at least one sensor (if more than one)in the heater will be an overtemp with a manual reset, so you'll know if thats the problem. if it persists, try removing filters.
i expect you need to be patient and wait.
the handles are the air control - relevant to heat due to their introduction of ambient (cooler) temp air when jet pump is running, effectively cooling the water as fast as it had previously been heating. |
